Dillon Radunz
Pos: OL
School: North Dakota State
Ht. 6’6″
Wt. 301 lbs
Strengths:
- Well built blocker; has good arm length
- Uses his hands extremely well on passing downs
- Upper body is utilized in a proactive manner
- Remains square with rush ends on passing downs
- Good overall frame allows him to absorb a few pass rush moves and still keep the rusher in front of him
- In the run game he plays with aggressiveness and urgency
- Nice swing tackle who can move quickly with good athleticism
- Smart offensive lineman who can pick up opposing teams stunts
- Can play guard or tackle at the next level
Weaknesses:
- Main issue with Radunz is a lack of footwork on passing plays. Radunz plays mainly with his upper body, and can very easily get beat at times. While he does use a solid kick step, he needs to take bigger strides with these steps
- As a result of a lack of footwork, Radunz may lose his footing at times where he lunges his body towards a defender
- In the run game, he should look to play with better pad level as he is caught upright several times. It didn’t affect him as much in college, however he should look to improve upon this at the next level
Overall Assessment: Dillon Radunz is among the top tackles in this years draft and is a well rounded prospect. He has a natural frame of a guard or a tackle, giving him positional versatility. He measures in at 6’6, with 33+ inch arms, giving him adequate length to thrive at the next level. He is a well built blocker who has a good frame. His long arms provide him with good reach, and he is able to use his hands to properly apply punches to the edge rushers. He has a solid upper body that he tends to use proactively, whether its with his arms, or keeping his body square and aligned to the pass rusher. He plays with aggressiveness and urgency on run downs, and works well in a zone blocking scheme. Radunz is an athletic lineman who can move quickly in the run game. He played well as a swing tackle for NDSU, and can get be a bull dozer in the run game. He can quickly dish out nice blocks to create holes in the run game when pulling. He is an aware and smart prospect who is able to recognize stunts and pick them up as well. He seemed to be the leader of that NDSU offensive line. Considering his size, and his athletic ability, he is able to provide solid abilities at both guard and tackle at the next level. Radunz could look to improve his lower half in pass protection. His upper body is great, however his legs are just one step behind. At times they move quickly, but the kick steps lack stride, and at times they simply don’t move at the rate at which they should be moving. This lack of footwork refinement causes some issues with balance at times, where he is caught reaching for the edge rusher. He should also look to play with better pad level in the run game as he becomes upright sometimes when paving a lane for Trey Lance, or his running backs.
