Strengths: 

Baron Browning is an extremely versatile player, who did almost everything for the Buckeyes. He played all 4 years for the team, and has been improving each year. Browning played all linebacker positions, can rush the passer, stop the run, and drop back into coverage. His versatility is what will make NFL teams fall in love with him. Furthermore, Browning is an athletic freak, running a 4.56 40 yard dash in college at 240 pounds. Browning’s change of direction is great, as he is able to work with many different angles and pursue the ball carrier. He brings force when he wraps up the ball carrier and often jars the ball loose. He is a fluid player who can do just about anything when it comes to pass coverage or run stopping.

Weaknesses:

In my opinion, Browning brings very few flaws to the table. And these flaws are very easily fixable. Browning would benefit from making reads earlier on in the play, and diagnosing before it is too late. His decision making is slightly questionable at times, where he doesn’t hit the right gap. He also has missed tackles and isn’t the most consistent when wrapping up the ball carrier. As said before, with proper coaching, this can easily be fixed at the next level

Overall Assessment: I project Baron Browning much higher than other draft analysts. I believe he has all the traits that simply cannot be taught, and his few weaknesses are easily correctable. Browning has ideal size, athleticism, explosiveness, and strength. Some technique issues will need to be fixed and with his work ethic and personality, I certainly see them being fixed early on in his career. Browning can be a fit in just about any scheme he is placed in. Whether it is as a SAM or MIKE linebacker and even a LEO, Browning should be able to produce at a high level. Browning will likely make it to the early picks of the 3rd round before he is taken but I believe he is an early to mid 2nd round talent.
