Cam’Ron Harris, Miami RB
Games Watched: Florida State, NC State
Pros:
- Great vision to make the right read every time
- Good patience to wait an extra tick for holes to open up
- Decent change of direction skills
- Make solid, efficient cuts
- Has a spin move that can be effective
- Looks for work as a receiver, great route runner
- Good in transition as a receiver
- Great willingness and technique to help as a blocker
Cons:
- Average long speed
- Average burst
- Average contact balance
- Not overly powerful to push ahead for extra yards
- Body catches as a receiver, needs to work on his hands
- Can be beat by speed as a blocker
Summary: Harris is a pretty average running back when it comes to most traits which makes him a below average back. His speed and agility isn’t great but it’s not terrible either. His contact balance isn’t bad but again not great. He’s got good patience and vision and while his change of direction is good it’s nothing to write home about. He has 3 down potential but overall he’s a pretty bland player.
Hopeful Improvements: Harris likely won’t be an every down back in the NFL despite his eagerness to play because of his athletic limitations giving him average strength and speed. He could make himself a very useful 3rd down back if he works on his hands and catching away from his body, as well as identifying rushers trying to beat him with purely speed a little quicker, to get to a spot before they do.
Grade: The 6th round is fitting, I like the potential skill set that Harris has as a 3rd down back and he wouldn’t be bad getting a few carries a game but I don’t see Harris as a lead back or as an elite 3 down back either.
