Jerrion Ealy, Ole Miss RB
Games Watched: Alabama, LSU, South Carolina
Pros:
- Very fluid mover
- Good elusiveness to shake off would be tacklers
- Accelerates extremely quick into the hole
- Overall great play speed
- Falls forward for an extra yard or two often
- Good route running and willingness as a receiver
- Good technique to square guys up as a blocker
Cons:
- Movement skills are to be expected for his size
- Contact balance isn’t very good
- Not the most patient running back
- His speed is to be expected for his size
- Needs more consistency catching the ball as a receiver
- Not powerful enough to be an effective blocker
Summary: Jerrion Ealy is a small back who I think is smaller than the listed 5’9 180 lbs. He plays with great speed, agility, and elusiveness. He has shown flashes of being a great change of pace back at the next level but he is lacking too many areas to be a feature back in the NFL.
Hopeful Improvements: Ealy isn’t going to get much bigger so at this point Ealy should do whatever he can to show he’ll be an effective 3rd down back. Mainly his receiving has to improve with better ball skills and he should try to put on some more weight to improve as a blocker.
Grade: Jerrion Ealy gets a 6th round grade from me. He’s a 3rd down back at most and he’s still a projection in that aspect because he needs work as a receiver. Not a guy I envision myself drafting very highly.
