Zamir White, Georgia RB

Games Watched: Florida, Alabama, Cincinnati

Pros:

  • Incredibly elusive back
  • Frequently evades defenders with great body control
  • Positions himself very well to be a slippery player
  • Good contact balance
  • Can recover and keep going after he’s hit
  • Good enough finishing speed
  • Consistent vision to make a good read almost every play
  • Keeps legs moving for extra yards occasionally
  • Decent burst and acceleration to get going and hit holes
  • Aware of QB in the receiving game
  • Phenomenal at moving feet to stay square with blockers to deliver a hit

Cons:

  • Not Very Agile Player
  • Change of direction ability isn’t great
  • Doesn’t make cuts very often
  • Passes up bigger plays to the outside for sure losses inside
  • Needs to push forward for extra yardage more often
  • Doesn’t run routes out of the backfield
  • Needs better anticipation of where defenders are as a receiver
  • Doesn’t look for work as a blocker

Summary: Zamir White wins with his elusiveness and contact balance. He’s a solid athlete who has good long speed and burst but doesn’t have much agility and you won’t see him making crazy cuts. He does a decent job making the right read most plays and he has the potential to be an every down back with a bit more consistency in pass blocking and receiving.

Hopeful Improvements: Zamir White isn’t always looking for work when pass blocking which makes him seem low effort. He needs to be a better route runner in the receiving game looking to get open instead of just looking at the QB. Has shown flashes of making good cuts, just doesn’t do it consistently and attempting more cuts will open up his game.

Grade: For now he’s a 4th round back considering he doesn’t have 3 down capability yet. With more consistency with pass blocking and receiving however, he’d certainly move up, and if he cuts to the outside more often to find big plays he can move much higher into the Round 2 conversation.
