Anthony Richardson

Florida QB

Games Watched: Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia

Summary: Anthony Richardson is an athletic freak who will easily be the best quarterback in the draft if he puts it all together. He has the ideal size and build for a quarterback with amazing arm strength. He has a good feel for the pocket and while he might not be the most elusive runner his open field speed and ability to break tackles makes him incredibly dangerous. His issues start with his poor mechanics causing inaccurate passes. He has to get a better feel for the timing of progressing through his reads, and make quick decisions with more consistency. His ability to read coverages also needs work as he can often fail to see lurking defenders.

Pros

  • Has the arm strength to flick the ball down field with minimal effort and throw the ball to all parts of the field
  • Amazing velocity on his passes to beat defenders on tight window throws
  • Above average pocket awareness to slide away from pressure and poise to deliver the ball under pressure
  • Great open field speed and strength to break tackles that he uses to be an effective rusher in and out of structure
  • Combination of size, strength, and speed gives him an insanely high ceiling

Cons

  • Not the greatest timing of his progressions
  • Inconsistent throw mechanics lead to overthrown and high passes
  • Habit of holding onto the ball leads him to make panicked decisions or take sacks
  • Can forget about lurking defenders leading him to throw the ball in the way of danger

Grade: Anthony Richardson gets an early 1st round grade. The ceiling is through the roof but it may take some time to fix the crippling weaknesses in his game.
