Cody Mauch

North Dakota IOL

Games Watched: Arizona, South Dakota State, Illinois State

Summary: Cody Mauch is a short armed tackle who will need to convert to guard in the NFL. He has great movement skills allowing him to mirror pass rushers and do damage at the second level. As a run blocker he does a good job finishing plays and throws decently powered punches as a pass blocker. Before he transitions however, he’ll need to add a significant amount of weight and also make some major technical fixes for his footwork and hand usage.

Pros

  • Has enough agility to mirror pass rushers
  • Good mobility to reach blockers at the second level once he gets going
  • Good pop in his punches
  • Consistently finish run blocks at the second level

Cons

  • Incredibly short arms make him tough to project as a tackle
  • Will need to add functional strength
  • Could be quicker exploding off the line to climb to the second level in the run game
  • Recovery footwork needs cleaning up
  • Hand placement is poor leading to ineffective punches

Grade: Cody Mauch gets a fourth round grade. He’s a solid athlete but is underdeveloped as a prospect.
