Darnell Washington

Georgia TE

Games Watched: Oregon, Florida, Mississippi State

Summary: Darnell Washington stands at a massive 6’7 270. His size and natural strength make him incredibly effective as a blocker because he is easily able to move defenders. He will excel as a run blocker both inline and out in space, and also as a pass blocker. The concerns are primarily centered around his receiving ability, as he has struggled with drops and he doesn’t have the quickness to create separation. When he does catch the ball, however, his size makes him a threat after the catch.

Pros

  • Absolutely massive at 6’7 270
  • Very hard to bring him down once he catches the ball
  • Great technique as a blocker
  • Has the strength to easily move people while run blocking
  • Can legitimately pass block 1 on 1

Cons

  • Doesn’t have the quickness to separate
  • Didn’t flash contested catch ability
  • Struggles with concentration drops
  • Sometimes indecisive picking a defender to block leading to plays where is he blocking no one

Grade: Darnell Washington gets a mid second round grade. He is already a great blocker and there’s receiving potential, but there’s a lot of work needed to unlock that potential.
