Dawand Jones
Ohio State OT
Games Watched: Penn State, Michigan, Georgia
Summary: Dawand Jones is an absolutely mountainous player at 6’8 374, although he could benefit from cutting some weight. He has fantastic play strength and super long arms allowing him to disrupt pass rushers and clear lanes in the run game. His footwork and hand usage also complements his game well. The natural drawbacks of his size are that his movement skills will be limited, making it tough for him to be very explosive or shift his weight quickly. He also can be slow to meet defenders out in space because of his size.
Pros
- Massive frame with incredibly long arms
- Good footwork into his pass sets
- Times his punches well to perfectly utilize his length
- Able to easily disrupt pass rushers with his strong punches
- Defenders are helpless once he gets his hands on them in the run game
Cons
- Naturally top heavy
- Below average agility and struggles redirecting his weight will make matchups against bendy edge rushers tough
- Robotic movement in space prevents him from efficiently climbing to the second level
Grade: Dawand Jones gets a mid 1st round grade. He has elite size and strength but could stand to improve technically.
