Summary: Demarvion Overshown is a converted safety who now plays linebacker. Coming from a safety background he has fantastic first step and great range to make plays from sideline to sideline. In coverage he moves well in his zone drops, and has the ability to cover TEs and RBs in man. He also has potential as a blitzer. His smaller size negatively impacts him as he struggles to shed blocks, and has to play over the top of blockers. This issue is compounded by slow play recognition which allows blockers to get to him often. He also has had some inconsistencies finishing off tackles.

Pros

  • Quick first step and good speed and acceleration allow him to cover a lot of ground
  • Does a good job flowing through space to find the ball carrier
  • Good movement skills in space as a coverage defender
  • Has the size and length to matchup with tight ends as well as the speed to matchup with running backs
  • Has the skills to develop and become an effective blitzer

Cons

  • Struggles to disengage from even smaller blockers
  • Has to play over the top of blockers because of his size and strength disadvantage
  • Play recognition is slow especially against the run
  • Needs to take become a more consistent tackler

Grade: Demarvion Overshown gets an early 3rd round grade. His range and coverage skills provide an enticing skillset but the size concerns can’t be overlooked.
