Jahmyr Gibbs

Alabama RB

Games Watched: Arkansas, Mississippi State, Auburn

Summary: Jahmyr Gibbs is on the smaller end but has phenomenal play speed. He is agile and quick in space, and he explodes off of his plant and cuts. He has good vision and patience as a back, and he slows his body to manipulate defenders. He is a sure handed receiver who ran a variety of routes as well. His only real limitations are due to his size, as he can’t shake off tacklers or push forward for more yards every play. His lack of size also limits what he can do as a blocker.

Pros

  • Very good play speed and agility
  • Accelerates quickly into the hole
  • Explodes after he plants and cuts
  • Good vision to see cutback lanes and holes opening up
  • Does a good job slowing down to fool defenders and then accelerating again
  • Quality receiving option

Cons

  • Doesn’t have the ability to break tackles using his strength
  • Isn’t very effective in short yardage situations
  • Not much of a contributor as a blocker

Grade: Jahmyr Gibbs gets a late 2nd round grade. He has incredible speed, intelligence, and receiving capabilities, but it’s risky to use him as a true workhorse.
