Jalin Hyatt
Tennessee WR
Games Watched: LSU, Alabama, Kentucky, Georgia
Summary: Jalin Hyatt projects to be a slot wide receiver at the next level. He is very fast and uses his speed to stack defenders and get open deep. He frequently finds holes behind defenders and he does a good job tracking and adjusting to passes. Oftentimes he can be a bit too reliant on his speed to create separation, as he isn’t a nuanced route runner. He also can struggle with physicality and making tough catches, and his run after the catch ability has room to be improved.
Pros
- Has the speed to get behind defenders and beat them deep
- Phenomenal at stacking and out leveraging defenders downfield
- Finds open spaces and maintains his speed to stay in these open windows
- Solid body control to adjust to errant passes
- Does a good job tracking the ball
- Changes direction fairly quickly
Cons
- Not a nuanced route runner, mostly relying on his speed to get open
- Did not run a diverse route tree
- Almost never faced press coverage in college
- Rarely finishes tough catches outside of his frame
- Nothing special after the catch
Grade: Jalin Hyatt gets an early 3rd round grade. He has the athletic ability to stretch the field but he needs to work on the finer aspects of his game to become a more effective receiver.
