Josh Whyle

Cincinnati TE

Games Watched: Arkansas, SMU, UCF

Summary: Josh Whyle stands at 6’6 250. He is an average athlete but moves well enough with some route running finesse to occasionally get open. He has good hands and great body control, although he’s not much of a threat after the catch. As a blocker he can definitely hold his own and he plays with good technique, although he doesn’t have the natural strength required to easily move guys leading to him losing his balance oftentimes.

Pros

  • Has a few subtle route running fakes in his bag
  • Pretty good hands
  • Great body control
  • Blocks with a solid base and good hand placement
  • Can hold his own as a pass blocker if given help

Cons

  • Pretty average athletically
  • Not much of a threat after the catch
  • Needs to put in a lot of effort to move defenders when run blocking

Grade: Josh Whyle gets a 4th round grade. He’s a middle of the pack receiver and a middle of the pack blocker, making him a boring but solid pick.
