Keion White

Georgia Tech EDGE

Games Watched: Clemson, Florida State, UNC

Summary: Keion White can play as a defensive end in a 4-3 or 3-4. He has great size and functional strength, but he is also athletic for his size, getting great bend off the edge. He has a few solid counters he can effectively use, and he is a very intelligent player, always locating the football and reading ball-carriers well. The weakest part of his game is probably his below average first step, and that combined with hands that don’t always keep his chest clean leave him working at a disadvantage often. He also has technical fixes necessary in the pass and run game.

Pros

  • Good play strength that allows him to bull rush effectively
  • Has delightful bend off the edge for his size
  • Has a nice long arm and spin move in his arsenal
  • Very alert during his rush, allowing him to adjust to the quarterback’s movement and finish sacks
  • Reads the field incredibly well, rarely getting fooled on play fakes and frequently making the right choice on option plays

Cons

  • Not very explosive initial step
  • Handwork needs improvement as he often lets linemen make first contact
  • Gives away the edge trying to make a play inside on run plays
  • Pad level often comes up too high during pass rushing reps

Grade: Keion White gets a mid 2nd round grade. He has a lot of quality traits but also quite a few issues to fix before he unlocks his potential.
