Luke Musgrave
Oregon State TE
Games Watched: Oregon (2021), Boise State, Fresno State
Summary: Luke Musgrave is an athletic tight end who is a good receiver. He runs well and can change directions quickly for a man his size. He runs routes well and catches passes outside of his body. As a blocker he puts in a lot of effort and can consistently be the low man. That doesn’t quite make up for his lack of strength, however, which allows for stronger defenders to easily disengage. It also impacts his separation ability against physical defenders.
Pros
- Moves well for someone his size
- Good route running ability
- Does a good job catching passes outside of his body
- Able to consistently get lower than the defender he is blocking
Cons
- Struggles against physical defenders who get their hands on him during the route
- Stronger defenders can easily outmuscle him and disengage quickly
- Cannot hold up as a pass blocker
Grade: Luke Musgrave gets a mid 3rd round grade. He will be a solid receiving tight end in the NFL but not elite enough to the point where it makes up for his below average blocking ability.
