Marvin Mims

Oklahoma WR

Games Watched: Kansas State, TCU, Florida State

Summary: Marvin Mims was underutilized his last year at Oklahoma but should be better in the NFL. He has decent long speed and good change of direction skills, which allow him to get open in the deep and intermediate areas of the field. He’s a solid route runner and great after the catch. It may take time for him to adjust however, as he ran a small route tree and needs to increase his play strength.

Pros

  • Has good deep speed
  • Solid change of direction skills
  • Has a variety of quality releases that he uses
  • Exploits the blind spot of defenders
  • Good ball tracking ability
  • Adept at finding the best path to gain as many yards as possible after the catch

Cons

  • Needs stronger hands to squeeze passes at the catch point
  • Smaller frame allows defenders to bully him
  • Did not run a very diverse route tree
  • Not exceptional at anything

Grade: Marvin Mims gets a mid 3rd round grade. While he is a solid route runner with decent play speed, his ceiling is capped by the fact that he isn’t elite at anything.
