Moro Ojomo
Texas IDL
Games Watched: Alabama, Iowa State, Kansas State
Summary: Moro Ojomo is undersized but if he adds weight he can be a great 4-3 DT. He’s quick off the snap and uses his speed to penetrate the backfield. Despite his smaller frame he has long arms that allow him to disengage and tackle with ease. He has active hands and good lateral mobility that make him a pass rushing threat. He struggles a bit more in the run game, where his lack of size is sometimes a problem. He also has leverage issues compounded with an affinity to let linemen get into his chest. His lack of closing burst to finish sacks is another potential issue.
Pros
- Long arms allow him to disengage and tackle effectively
- Very quick first step
- Converts speed to power to get good push at the line
- Active hands that counter blockers and create pass rush opportunities
- Lateral mobility allows him to get past the hip of an offensive lineman
Cons
- Lacking base size and strength for typical DT
- Too high in his rush oftentimes giving linemen leverage
- Allows offensive linemen to get their hands into his chest
- Creates pressure but is often unable to finish plays because of his below average closing burst
Grade: Moro Ojomo gets a late 2nd round grade. He has flashed tremendous potential as a pass rusher and run defender, but has glaring technique issues that prevent him from being higher.
