Noah Sewell
Oregon LB
Games Watched: Washington State, UCLA, Washington
Summary: Noah Sewell played MIKE at Oregon but may not have the skillset for the position in the NFL. He certainly has the size and plays incredibly physically to beat blockers and make big hits. He does a good job reading receivers in zone coverage and has good power as a blitzer. The hardest thing to overlook with Sewell is his poor change of direction ability. His lower half is so tight which affects his ability to get to the ball in the run game and stay with pass catchers in coverage. He is also a slow processor who is late to see plays develop and can often be fooled by misdirection.
Pros
- Has the ability to deliver big hits
- Functional strength allows him to play off blockers at the point of attack and make tackles around them
- Decent route anticipation when he’s in zone coverage
- Good speed to power as a blitzer
Cons
- Extremely tight lower half prevents him from quickly changing directions which hinders so many aspects of the game
- Slow to see plays develop and often falls for misdirection
- Not aggressive as a run defender letting the play come to him instead of attacking the ball
- May not have the mobility required to be a reliable defender in pass coverage
Grade: Noah Sewell gets a 6th round grade. He has prototypical size but the mobility concerns render him almost undraftable.
