O’Cyrus Torrence
Florida IOL
Games Watched:
Summary: O’Cyrus Torrence is an absolutely massive guard whose size makes him a great fit for power run scheme teams. His natural strength gives him a strong anchor and the ability to move defenders in the run game. He has surprisingly mobility for his size, and he reads defenses well too. He is not as quick laterally where he struggles to mirror quicker defensive linemen, and he often attempts to overcompensate for this by lunging leaving him even more susceptible to counters. Many times in the run game he doesn’t stay square, giving defenders an easy path into the backfield.
Pros
- Great size and strength with long arms as well
- Does a good job turning upfield after making his first block, he has plus movement skills for his size
- Has the strength to easily move defenders in the run game
- Hands have a lot of pop
- Good at identifying stunts and blitzes and reacting accordingly
Cons
- Tight hips can make it tough for him to move laterally to stick with defenders
- Often overextends his weight leaving him susceptible to counters
- Doesn’t always keep his body square when he should, allowing defenders penetration into the backfield
Grade: O’Cyrus Torrence gets a mid 2nd round grade. He has phenomenal size and strength but has key flaws preventing him from being a first round prospect.
