Paris Johnson Jr
Ohio State OT
Games Watched: Penn State, Michigan, Georgia
Summary: Paris Johnson Jr played left tackle at Ohio State and should do the same in the NFL. He has decent size, good movement skills, and solid technique allowing him to mirror edge rushers and do damage in the run game. He plays smart and recovers quickly, which is good because he got beat in pass protection often. His issues stem from not distributing his weight properly and his lack of functional strength which allowed defenders to beat him with power and then counter, although these issues are fixable – especially when he starts using his incredibly long arms more effectively.
Pros
- Good agility and loose hips to mirror pass rushers
- Great range and finish ability as a run blocker
- Decent footwork and hand usage
- Has the athleticism to recover quickly after being beaten
- Intelligent at reading blocking assignments and finding multiple guys to block
Cons
- Plays with his weight too far out in front of him
- Doesn’t fully utilize his length, often allowing defenders into his chest
- Anchor will need to get stronger
Grade: Paris Johnson Jr gets a mid 1st round grade. He is a great run blocker with skills to be a great pass blocker given his holes are fixable.
