Quentin Johnston
TCU WR
Games Watched: Kansas, Oklahoma, Michigan, Ohio State
Summary: Quentin Johnston is a big receiver who has great movement skills for his size. Even more than his straight line speed, his ability to change direction and make quick cuts jumps off the page. He also has great after the catch ability. The main concern is that he’s not a very nuanced route runner, which could cause separation issues at the next level.
Pros
- Great size
- Very fast in the open field
- Changes direction insanely quickly for someone his size
- Good ball tracking skills
- Will draw pass interference flags by using his size
- Size/speed combo makes him deadly after the catch
- Falls forward at the end of play
Cons
- Not a nuanced route runner
- Struggles to stack defenders vertically despite having the speed to do so
- Couldn’t separate against aggressive players
- Needs to get better at attacking the ball and using his body to shield off defenders
Grade: Quentin Johnston gets a late first round grade. He has the potential to be the best receiver in this class, but also has issues attacking the ball and beating press coverage which could cause concerns.
