Siaki Ika

Baylor IDL

Games Watched: BYU, Iowa State, Oklahoma State

Summary: Siaki Ika is the size of a 0-T but is probably better suited to cut down and play 1-T in a 4-3. He has great size and strength, and decent athleticism for his size – although comparatively that’s not very athletic. In the run game he anchors down nicely against double teams, gets good power in his punches, and reads the field well. Ika isn’t as great against the pass, where a lot of the time he was subbed off. He is also hindered by short arms that affect his reach and tackling radius.

Pros

  • Natural size and strength given his build
  • Has the anchor to hold double teams
  • Gets good power in his punches
  • Decent play recognition skills

Cons

  • Obvious lack of true athleticism because of his size
  • Short arms limit him by allowing linemen to get into his chest and also reducing his tackling radius
  • Not good enough of a pass rusher to be a 3 down player

Grade: Siaki Ika gets a 4th round grade. He’s an above average run stuffer but has little potential beyond that.
