Tanner McKee

Stanford QB

Games Watched: USC, Washington, Oregon

Summary: Tanner McKee is a standard pocket passer who doesn’t offer much more outside of it. He has the good size and arm strength to quickly get the ball to all parts of the field. He is surprisingly accurate on passes down the field and he does a good job leading his receivers open. He struggles to create out of structure however, as his mobility limits his scrambling ability. He often double hitched giving defenders time to close in on plays, and didn’t look past his first or second read. He also could stand to throw passes with more touch.

Pros

  • Prototypical size for the position
  • Decent arm strength to throw with velocity and make throws downfield
  • Above average accuracy on deep passes
  • Good anticipation to lead his receivers open

Cons

  • Was not consistently going through all of his reads
  • Lacked touch on his passes
  • Double hitching and long throwing motion get him in trouble often
  • Purely a pocket passer who struggled trying to evade pass rushers with his legs

Grade: Tanner McKee gets a 5th round grade. He looks the part but he offers little upside and doesn’t have the football IQ to make up for it.
