Zay Flowers
Boston College WR
Games Watched: Clemson, Wake Forest, NC State
Summary: Zay Flowers has the versatility to be lined up both inside and outside. While he is on the smaller end, he makes up for it with speed and quickness which he uses to quickly break on routes to create separation. He has great body control and can do damage after the catch as well. He does however, have room to grow as a route runner, and he needs to be more consistent catching tough passes.
Pros
- Good agility and movement skills
- Starts and stops quickly
- Breaks sharply at the stem of his route
- Good body control to adjust to the ball mid route
- Quick hands can haul in errant passes
- Shifty after the catch
Cons
- Occasionally has concerns with inconsistent hands
- Small catch radius
- Not an incredibly nuanced route runner with regards to his release/selling of routes
- Can be affected and slowed by physical corners
Grade: Zay Flowers gets an early 2nd round grade. He is quick and agile which allows him to create separation, but against better athletes in the NFL he will need to improve his route running and contested catch ability.
