Pos: OT
School: Georgia
Ht. 6’5″
Wt. 310
Games Watched: Ohio State, South Carolina, Alabama
One Liner: Athletic offensive tackle who wins with strength, movement ability and lateral agility.
Strengths:
- Very good athleticism. Jones is a fluid mover in space and has lateral mobility that allows him to succeed in diagonal passing sets.
- Very good strength. Jones displays strong arms and heavy hands when he punches opposing edge rushers and is able to move them well off their track with his aggressiveness.
- Good football IQ. Jones has a solid understanding of where to be and picks up stunts and twists well from opposing defenses.
Weaknesses:
- Marginal technique. Jones really wins with traits right now, and he needs to clean up a lot of his technique before he can become a successful offensive tackle at the next level, including hand placement, timing, and second level positioning.
- Adequate frame. Jones looks like he could add more weight and bulk to his frame in order to maintain positioning against power and speed-power rushers.
Overall Assessment: Broderick Jones is a highly projectable offensive tackle at the next level due to his athletic traits and strength. Jones has tons of potential to be a long term starting tackle at the next level, but will need refinement from whichever team he goes to, as he is far from a finished product in terms of technique and build.
Scheme Fit: Man/Zone blocking scheme as a moving tackle in space.
Pick Projection: Mid 1st
Grade: 6.48
