Cedric Tillman
Pos: WR
School: Tennessee
Ht. 6’3″
Wt. 216
Games Watched: Tennessee, Georgia(2021), Georgia
One Liner: Big wide receiver who wins with his hands, ball skills, and toughness.
Strengths:
- Very good hands. Tillman has soft, reliable hands that he uses to make leaping grabs and secure passes in traffic. Tillman is able to make contested catches and wins on 50/50 balls.
- Very good ball skills. Tillman times his jumps extremely well, and has the catch radius and physicality to go up and grab the ball in the air. Tillman’s catch point skills make him an excellent downfield threat and has the physicality to outmuscle defenders.
- Very good toughness. Tillman plays with an aggressive demeanor and is a tough wide receiver who has the physicality to go head to head in press and out-battle opposing corners on the deep ball.
- Good footwork. Tillman has solid footwork throughout his route. Before the stem, Tillman shows a solid ability to win off press with a decent release and maintains good body control and speed until the stem.
Weaknesses:
- Adequate speed. Tillman is not the fastest receiver, and wasn’t particularly fast even before his injury. He won’t be a natural, long speed separator at the next level, and will primarily win off his physicality and reliable hands.
- Adequate athleticism. Tillman isn’t the most twitchy receiver, and lacks ideal bursts and short area quickness to find separation. While he has great body control, Tillman’s lack of speed may hurt him at the next level if he doesn’t refine his route running craft further.
Overall Assessment: Cedric Tillman is a reliable receiver who looks like a natural “X” wideout at the next level. He plays with sure and soft hands, and has the strength and physicality to go up and compete for any 50/50 ball. He is a disciplined receiver, and while he isn’t too flashy, he gets the job done with solid route running. He could look to sell his routes more with some more finesse and explosiveness in and out of the stems, but that can come with time with NFL coaching. Tillman will be held back by a lack of long speed at the next level, but if he is able to improve his route running, Tillman can be a dangerous starting receiver in the NFL.
