Dorian Williams
Pos: LB
School: Tulane
Ht. 6’1″
Wt. 228
Games Watched: Houston, Oklahoma, USC
One Liner: Rangy, coverage LB who wins with elite athletic ability, plus instincts and reliability as a tackler .
Strengths:
- Elite athleticism. Williams moves around the field like a safety with great range and fluid movements in both man and zone coverage.
- Very good eye discipline in coverage. Williams can move around extremely well, but he also maintains very good eye discipline and isn’t easily fooled by QB’s eyes.
- Good tackler. Williams is a reliable wrap-up tackler who usually seals the deal when he makes contact with the ball carrier
- Solid instincts in the passing game. Williams reads passing plays really well, and has the athleticism to react well off his instincts.
Weaknesses:
- Adequate insintincts defending the run. Williams is just a bit slow reacting to the run which causes him to be chasing a little more than one would like.
- Marginal frame. While his numbers don’t look too bad, Williams is a really small 228 pounds. I would like to see him bulk up a little more in the pros.
Overall Assessment: Dorian Williams is an under-the-radar prospect who shines with eye-catching athletic ability. Williams possesses raw talent at the LB position and combines this with good tackling technique and solid instincts in the passing game to make him a formidable WILL prospect for right now. Unless Williams develops his play diagnosis in the run game, he might be a designated WILL for the duration of his career.
Scheme Fit: WILL LB in a even front offense
Pick Projection: Late Day 2 – Early Day 3
Grade: 6.29
