Jammie Robinson
Pos: SAF
School: Florida State
Ht. 5’11″
Wt. 191
Games Watched: Wake Forest, Clemson, Louisville
One Liner: High effort safety who wins with motor, athleticism, and processing.
Strengths:
- Very good motor. Robinson plays with an excellent motor that often overshadows the size deficiencies that he has. He attacks upfield against the run and will play with physicality and aggressiveness to weave through blocks to find the ball carrier.
- Very good athleticism. Robinson is an above average athlete, and flashes the angles and agility to play out of some Cover 3 looks when asked of him. He has good short area quickness to close in and has the burst to recover.
- Good processing and football instincts. Robinson flashes the ability to read and react and demonstrates some positive football IQ moments where he sniffs out play developments sooner than expected, allowing him to use his athleticism to come down and make a play or close in on his zone responsibility and disrupt the passing lane.
Weaknesses:
- Adequate size. Robinson does play with some size deficiencies in his frame, particularly with shorter arms that make it harder for him to have good ball skills and disrupt with physicality. His height and weight are average, but it does bring into question whether or not he can impact heavier ball carriers in space to tackle.
- Adequate coverage technique. Robinson’s coverage technique will need some tweaks and refinement at the next level. He needs to play with better timing when opening up his hips in coverage, and will need to be more disciplined in off man looks where he allows a little bit too much cushion.
- Adequate angles. Robinson will need to take better angles when attacking the football and the ball carrier in space. Some of his angles have and will continue to lead to tackling errors and miscues on his end.
Overall Assessment: Jammie Robinson is a developing safety prospect who brings the desired motor and effort to the table. He is a solid athlete as well, making him somewhat of a high upside prospect if he is able to put some of his athletic traits to use and diminish the technical errors he does have right now. He flashes solid instincts, and will definitely make it more consistent with more reps. He will have to improve his coverage technique, specifically in off man looks and will also have to clean up some poor angles taken to tackle the ball carrier.
