Tank Bigsby
Pos: RB
School: Auburn
Ht. 6’0″
Wt. 210
Games Watched: Penn State, Missouri, Ole Miss
One Liner: Lateral moving running back who wins with change of direction, processing and strength.
Strengths:
- Very good change of direction. Bigsby shows that he is capable of making multiple cuts behind the line of scrimmage to adjust to defenders attacking gaps, and is patient enough to cut until he finds the right gap to attack. He can change directions in the backfield efficiently and fluidly.
- Very good processing. Bigsby understands zone blocking concepts well, and is adept at finding and hitting the right hole after processing during the mesh point. Bigsby usually makes the right call when attacking his gaps and shows the desired vision zone offense teams look for.
- Very good strength. Bigsby is a well built running back who has the frame to take on contact and continue moving. He has a strong frame that allows him to lower the shoulder when needed and fall forward when hit.
- Good ability to break tackles. Bigsby shows that he can break tackles, but this comes mostly from his frame, strength and contact balance to make opponents bounce off him when they attempt to tackle him.
Weaknesses:
- Adequate speed. Bigsby plays with good processing skills, covering up some speed deficiencies, but Bigsby isn’t the fastest runner and will not win too often on a big play gain.
- Adequate passing game threat. At this point, Bigsby is not a passing game threat, and doesn’t make much of an impact as a receiver. He does an average job of picking up blitzes as a pass blocker.
- Adequate ball security. Bigsby had some ball security issues in college in 2021, and will need to ensure that these issues don’t translate to the pros.
Overall Assessment: Tank Bigsby is a well built running back who runs in an old school type of powerful way. He takes advantage of a really good frame and good strength to absorb and play off of contact in space. Bigsby is also a good processor, and displayed the ability to function in a zone blocking scheme with cutbacks and quickness needed to attack the right gap. Bigsby isn’t the best athlete overall, and lacks long speed to make him a threat to break big on running plays. He isn’t a big contributor in the passing game, and does have some minor ball security issues that he will need to shore up before making an impact in the pros.
